voltron motion picture, voltron the movie, volron the defender of the universe the movie, voltron movie, voltron 2009 movieVoltron - In July 2005, producer Mark Gordon (Gray's Anatomy, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) has announced plans for a live-action film adaptation of Voltron franchise, working with producers Pharrell Williams, Mark Costa and Frank EBLUL. Pharrell Williams also informed the soundtrack of the film.


In December 2006, screenwriter Enzo Marra, announced that it has completed the script for Gordon. In August 2007, New Regency production entity entered into negotiations with Mark Gordon Co. to adapt Voltron. Interest in the property after the box office success of Transformers, another film involving robots.

Marks script was described as "a post-apocalyptic story set in New York in which five ragtag survivors of an alien attack band together and end up piloting the five lion-shaped robots that combine to form the great sword-wielding Voltron that helps battle the invaders from Earth. On 18 August 2008, Relativity Media entered into negotiations with New Regency to finance and produce the film, though with a more moderate budget, utilizing cost-saving techniques like those used in CGI 300. Max Makowski is set to direct. In late August 2008 the title had been set for "Voltron: Defender of the Universe".World Events Productions is currently in a legal battle with Toei Company Ltd. on the rights of the film. The Voltron movie may be distributed by Paramount Pictures. I'm really wondering whose ass they will be kicking.. I'm really getting excited and I hope they will also consider making "Voltes-V", it seems that more giant robots are considering careers in Hollywood after "Transformers".
